It’ not easy staying motivated at work. The majority of us can admit we all need a little reaching our goals. Even those who are the most motivated at work may struggle and feel stuck in a rut from time-to-time.

Here’s our top tips in how to stay motivated at work!

  1. Keep a to-do list.

If you find tasks are starting to stack up, one way to help get on top of things is by keeping a to-do list. Free programs such as Google Keep or Evernote are a great way to manage and keep track of your list.

By keeping a list this can give you something to work through and stay organised by ticking off each task once complete.

  1. Clear your mind.

No one can stay fully focused for hours on end without taking a break. One way to help stay focused in the office is by standing up, doing a few stretches or take a walk outside for some fresh air. Regular screen breaks are also vital for productivity and will re-energise you.

  1. Time to turn off those email reminders.

Research shows the average person spends more than two-and-a-half hours a day just responding to emails. With emails being a big distraction at work when mid-way through a task it could be a good idea to close down your inbox and switch off reminders so you can give your full focus to one specific task.

  1. De-clutter.

If you have a cluttered desk at work this can be a symptom of a disorganised mind and can demotivate you. Regularly spring clean your desk; file or recycle paper, throw away rubbish and streamline your desk’s organisation.

  1. Focus on your goal.

Remind yourself of your main goal. Whatever the task, you should have a clear goal in mind. Plan how you will achieve this and work diligently until you do… while understanding the need for flexibility and agility along the way.

If you are a visual person, create a vision board which includes your work and personal goals, so you can see where you’ll be travelling on your next holiday or the new purchase you’ll receive when you reach that milestone – it will help you remember why you are there.
